CONTEXTOMY

Definition: The practice of misquoting someone by shortening the quotation or by leaving out surrounding words or sentences that would place the quotation in context.

2. Thought justifiable - to help meet a necessity, of generalisation.

3. 'Quotation' would be readable and (mis)understood.
