Definitions:

i. In statistics, a confounder is a variable that influences both the dependent variable and independent variable causing a spurious association. [Confounding is a causal concept, and as such, cannot be described in terms of correlations or associations.]

ii. A variable that, when added to the regression model, changes the estimate of the association between the main dependent variable (exposure) and the dependent variable (outcome) by 10% or more.
