ARROGANCE OF POWER (2)

Definition: (informal) The tendency of public officials, whether elected or appointed, to live life in such a way that would make them seem as if they consider themselves more important than other people.

1. Assumed purposeful and necessary by the so-called 'powers that be'.

2. Insists on rights (read: perks), all; demands privileges (read: paraphernalia), more.

3. Endeavours to exploit any lacunae in the laws, or to take advantage of a technicality, if wrong.

4. Thinks tenure won't come to an end - believes next election will be won, or can be in next government.

5. Acting as if all-knowing, not respecting some opposing views and/or not even listening to a different perspective.

6. Blind to the realities on ground, especially if being mocked and/or derided - likes to bear title for life, be hailed for past glory, etc.

7. Thinking succession, if unavoidable, but only if this transfer of power favours a choice personally made, or the preferred candidate of political party, etc.

8. Engrossed in self-centredness, self-congratulation, self-delusion, selfishness, self-righteousness, self-praise, etc., from having a superiority complex or a sense of entitlement.
