Apriorism
APRIORISM

Definitions:

i. The idea that some knowledge of the physical world can be derived logically from general principles.

ii. Belief in a priori principles or reasoning; specifically the doctrine that are self-evident to reason or are presupposed by experience in general.

iii. The philosophical doctrine that that there may e genuine knowledge independent of experience.

iv. Belief in, or reliance upon, a priori reasoning, arguments, or principles.

v. A gnoseological tendency according to which a priori knowledge exists (moderate apriorism), or all valid knowledge is obtained only a priori (radical apriorism).

vi. The doctrine that there is knowledge that is logically prior to experience (or sensory perception).
