Breach of trust
BREACH OF TRUST

Definition: (informal) The situation in which someone in a position of authority disappoints the people who look up to them to show good conduct or set excellent examples.

1. Duty or responsibility of who breaches trust is defined, definite.

2. Strength of character of 'sinner' was assumed to be very strong.

3. Some profit will accrue to, or a benefit will be envisaged by, the offender at the time of committing 'crime'.

4. 'Sin' will not be an illegality. That is, no law will be broken.

5. (Reserved.) (Misdemeanour will require no investigation as wrong or wrongdoing will be so very obvious.) (To emphasize.)

6. Consequences will be negative - even if a temporary profit was obtained - for who lets the other(s) down. And impact or effect will be long-lasting, even if lost trust can be 'rebuilt' or 'regained'.

7. A feeble apology, some poor attempt at a justification or rationalization, etc. will be offered by culprit, on offence coming into the open, even as the public will not accept hogwash.
