Definition: A term used at Oxford, Cambridge and Durham Universities to mean being 'sent down' or expelled temporarily, or, in more recent times, to leave temporarily for welfare and other health reasons.

1. Believed purposeful and necessary to 'slow down' student.

2. Basis or footing established as genuine as confirmed by authority.

5. The loss, from temporary absence, can't be irrecoverable.

6. Student learns from experience on entering the 'university of life'.
