STOKES' LAW

Definitions:

i. (physics) A law stating that a small sphere falling through a viscous medium acquires a uniform velocity... .

ii. (physics) A law stating that the frequency of luminescence excited by radiation cannot be in excess of the luminescence of the radiation which excites it [after Sir George Stoke (1819-1903), British physicist].
