Snell's law
SNELL'S LAW

Definition: (physics) A law of refraction, which states that the ratio of the sines of the angles of incidence and of refraction is equal to the ratio of the velocities of the disturbance (at constant frequency) in the first and second media. It follows that the refractive index may be measured by a simple measurement of these angles [after Willebrord Snell (1591-1626), Du. mathematician].
