| SKELETON IN THE CUPBOARD Definition: (British) (usually - a skeleton in the cupboard) A secret of which a family is ashamed. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements would be in. 1. Family thinks it has a name (read reputation) to protect. 2. Cause of the likely shame won't be ascribable to nature ... what is not loved or liked is specific and identifiable. 3. Suspicions will be out there about the source of worry ... the fear of some others knowing will be real or realistic. 4. Known by all members that it must be kept very hidden. 5. Would be denied, for certain, if initially asked about. 6. Cannot be got rid of or destroyed or put in back burner. 7. Exposure would earn family a huge loss and inconvenience ... purposeful and necessary, therefore, to hide secret. 8. Event that led to situation didn't involve another family ... disguise will, therefore, be measurable and/or assessable. 9. Will be taken to the grave, on informing succeeding generation. WHAT ... ?! _______ Are they...? Did they...? How did....? Which is...? | |
