| SERVOMECHANISM Definitions: i. A device by which one mechanism controls the movement of another, independently powered on. Its operation depends on feedback: a signal proportional to the difference in action between master and slave mechanisms is amplified and applied as a correction to reduce the difference. ii. (engineering) A control device that operates automatically to adjust to the desired end when input varies, e.g., a thermostat. iii. (engineering) A double-sided vacuum-based device to provide pressure in hydrostatic brakes. iv.
