Definition: (formal) (of a product) Having a lesser quality than an original because inputs in its production are not the best materials.

2. Substandard quality is not easily visible or noticeable by the ‘uninitiated’!

4. Lifespan of product is shorter than the original, but this can only be known after it is purchased and/or used.

5. Selling price of product, if applicable, is not remarkably lesser than an original.
(Or the process of acquiring item, where it’s not for sale, is same as acquiring an original.)

6. Adulterated product ‘moves’ in the market. That is, substandard good is not frequently acquired and used.

8. Producer of substandard goods is not caught and prosecuted for ‘crime’, whether ‘factory’, ‘laboratory’, etc. is raided by regulator(s), etc. or not.
