| LETTER OF THE LAW Definition: (often disapproving) (usually - the letter of the law) The exact words of a law or rule, rather than its general meaning, ________________________________________________________________________ * All six tough elements should be in. 1. Its intendment will be plain or ordinary, however an enactment or rulemaking. USUAL. 2. Its translation(s) will be so absolutely basic. SHORT. 3. Simple, not colloquial or rhetorical...can't be misread or misunderstood. NORMAL. 4. Interpretable in only one way or language, as long as law or rule is valid. FIXED. 5. Has no extraneous/extra stress; not 'key'. CLEAR. 6. Its context will not be debatable. That is, addresses and/or applies directly. KNOWN. ______________________________________________________________________ NO LEGALESE ... DAMN EASY ... NO AMBIGUITY ... AND VERY 'SPIRITLESS'.
