| SUPEREGO (2) Definitions: i. (psychology) The part of the mind that makes you aware of right and wrong and makes you feel guilty if you do wrong. ii. (technical) Your superego is the part of your mind which makes you aware of what is right and wrong, and which causes you to feel guilty when you have done something wrong. iii. (psychoanalysis) The idealized image that a person builds up of himself in response to authority and social pressures. Fundamentally unconscious, it rises to consciousness on critical occasions and serves as a kind of policeman of the personality. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements should be in. 1. Believed purposeful and necessary to build up self-image. 2. Outcome will be seemingly impregnable or indestructible. 3. Remains or present for only the desired period of time. 4.
