Definition: The quality of acting counter to one's desires for oneself in order to serve someone else, others, a cause, etc.

2. End result, outcome, etc. expected to be greater and better.

3. Doesn't really arise from a request or order (to emphasize).

4. Conduct lasts for considerable and desirable period of time.

5. Denial of self-indulgence serves purpose(s) (connect to #4).

6. Self-loathing cannot arise as fallout of the self-sacrifice.

7. Unwilling person(s) not forced to 'belong' (see definition).

8. The sacrifice achieves objective(s), as exactly planned for.
