Orders of architecture
ORDERS OF ARCHITECTURE

Definition: The characteristic styles of classical architecture, especially as applied to columns. The five orders are: Doric, Ionic, Corinthian, Tuscan and Composite. The variations occur principally in the capitals but also in the heights of the columns relative to their width.
