Definition: (Roman Catholicism) A devotion with special prayers and services over nine days.

* All eight elements should be in.


1. Purposeful and necessary for the 'prayer warrior'.

2. Sin or backsliding, need or request would be serious.

3. Planned ahead with arrangements in place for clergy, etc.

4. Accompanied with an appropriate tool, such as contrition, repentance, pilgrimage, etc.

5. Devotions does not inconvenience other persons, especially the people of other faiths.

6. Undertaken by the single individual all 9-day period.

7. Specialness of the prayers and services not doubted.

8. Worthwhile, only if faith becomes stronger thence.
