Definition: A way of doing something that seems useful at first, but does not produce useful results, like following a path that suddenly stops.

1. Thing is done with seriousness. That is, a lot of efforts and/or resources was put into endeavour. In other words, there was no doubt about the rightness of choice, while thing is being done.

2. Alley does not lead to an abyss. That is, there can be a retrace from this way, whenever it is necessary to discontinue action.

3. Loss incurred or inconvenience encountered are not irrecoverable or unmanageable (connect to #2).
