| BLEEDING HEART (1) Definitions: i. (disapproving) A person who is too kind and sympathetic towards people that other people think do not deserve kindness. ii. If you describe someone as a bleeding heart, you are criticizing them for being sympathetic towards people who are poor and suffering, without doing anything practical to help them. ______________________________________________________________________ * Person thus described: 1. Expresses profuse sympathy, close to shedding tears, even if he or she caused or contributed to poverty or hardship. (To emphasize.) 2. Never gives a clue, or offer a suggestion, provide or render an assistance, etc. to help others get out of problem. 3. Will be secretly wishing that he/she is not in a situation in which pity for someone else has to be shown. (Connect to #5.) 4. Believes his/her wealth or healthiness is assured or guaranteed to last for ever. That is, will be quietly happy that others are poor and suffering, even as this will never be admitted or confessed. 8. Will not deliberately worsen the situation of destitute or victim of hardship.
