No sign, guarantee, assurance, etc. of a possible escape from hopeless - sympathetic or pitiable - state or situation. 5. Belief will be that help or support can help ameliorate situation or contribute to escaping from misery. That is, state is not one that is considered as impossible to save. 6. A demand request, 'poise', pleading, gesture, etc. will be made for a 'rescue' by the person/party in dire straits. 7.
