| WORLD BANK Definition: (usually - the World Bank) An international organization that lends money to countries who are members at times when they are in difficulty and need more money. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary. 2. Well-structured and/or organized (connect to #3). 3. Professionally run or managed. That is, manned by 'experts' in the relevant disciplines/fields - economic, developmental, sociopolitical, financial, etc. 4. Lends adequate amounts of money, timely and promptly. 5. Monitors what is lent and ensures proper application of loans, such that no losses are suffered, especially by the borrower(s). 6. Lending rates are the minimum possible, in the circumstances and at the particular point in time. 7. Has representatives and country offices in all member countries and economic regions/blocks. 8. Issues or releases annual or periodic reports of its activities and/or accounts. And details of reports (= investments and involvements) are open to scrutiny, the information contained therein are complete and its activities do not involve illegalities. 9.
