| WILD GOOSE CHASE Definition: A search for something that is impossible for you to find or that does not exist, that makes you waste a lot of time. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements would be in. 1. Search is purposeful and believed necessary. 2. Not known in the beginning that thing will be impossible to find or that item is non-existent. 3. Hope, expectation, belief, etc. is that a discovery will be made. 4. Lots of resources, energies, etc. will be deployed on effort or to endeavour. (Connect to #2 & #4.) 5. Search will be extensive and/or boundless. 6. Loss will be experienced in the end, as time wasted could have been used for other productive endeavours. 7. A lesson will be learned from experience, but this would be only after losses would have been suffered. 8. Warning, caution, revelation, etc., if any, about unlikelihood of a find or absence of particular thing being searched for, that would have been given at the start of search would be disregarded by who embarked on futile pursuit. ________________________________ See perfect TIME-WASTING (1).
