Whistle-blower
WHISTLE-BLOWER

Definitions:

i. (used especially in newspapers) A person who informs people in authority or the public that the company they work for is doing something wrong or illegal.

ii. One who informs authorities of malfeasance in government or business.

1. Purposeful – patriotism, payback or revenge, conscience, etc.

2. Considers it absolutely necessary to inform others about wrong or to disclose information to others.

3. Did not contribute to wrongdoing or illegality. And not as a result of being cheated out of the would-be proceeds (of the malfeasance); that is, not grudgingly. And/or returns gain, if any, that was obtained as a result of wrong or illegality.

4. Reports timely, when something valuable can still be saved or before an additional loss is incurred.

5. Makes arrangement for self protection (to emphasize). That is, prepared to leave company or organization, get a redeployment or transfer, seek an asylum, etc., as applicable.

6. Does expect some future, 'juicy' direct material benefit, no matter how little, as an outcome or result of blowing a 'whistle'.

7. Achieves objective(s), as hoped for, whether or not he or she ends up being sacked or commended, incarcerated or killed!
