Definitions:

i. [ ~ (for somebody/something) ] An act of waiting; an amount of time waited.

ii. To remain in a place or in a state of inactivity, indecision, delay or anticipation because of some event expected to happen or a person expected to arrive, etc.

1. Purposeful and necessary for who or what waits.

2. Prior knowledge of the outcome of the tarry turning out fruitful (on appointment, etc); not on a guess or forlorn hope.

3. Nothing is lost or will be lost by the tarry.

5. Act or time is not at another's inconvenience.

6. Ends at a point in time, whether it serves purpose(s) or not.
