VERBIAGE

Definition: (formal, disapproving) The use of too many words, or of more difficult words than are needed, to express an idea.

1. Purposeful and necessary for user.

2. The difficult words are understood and can, therefore, be explained, if necessary, by user.

3. Listener or reader suffers some sort of loss, arising from lack of a quick or clear understanding, expenditure of efforts to interpret or comprehend the idea intended.

4. Complaints, grumblings, etc. will be made, by the listener/reader, as a direct consequence of extra and difficult words.

5. Situation will be regretted later, and a lesson learned, even if not apologized for, by the person who is being verbose.

6. (Reserved.) (Usually waffled words will all be from one language!)
