| UPRISING Definition: [ ~ (against something) ] A situation in which a group of people join together in order to fight against the people who are in power. ______________________________________________________________________ * All ten elements would be in. 1. Purposeful, for the people involved. 2. Necessity in in the estimation of rebellious group to take up arms. That is, group members have a justification, in their opinion, to engage in fight. ____________________________ WHAT LAWFULNESS? 3. Group has a leader (to emphasize). 4. Government being fought was not validly or legally put in place (= power!). That is, the government was not properly elected or appointed - in the opinion of the fighters! _____________________________ WHICH GOVERNMENT?! 5. Fight lasts for a period considered appropriate. That is, no weariness from the duration of struggle. 6. Losses that accrue to rebels are not so enormous to make effort worthless or make eventual victory Pyrrhic. _____________________ WHAT TRUCE? 7. Fight does not involve the destruction of private property (to emphasize). 8. Those engaged in combat by the rebellious group are members of the armed forces, government-backed militias, paramilitary, etc. That is, civilians are not regarded as legitimate targets during the 'war'. _____________________ WHICH RULES? 9. (Reserved.) (Government is never given a serious notice before start of destructive fight.) 10. Victory is obtained. That is, fight achieves objective(s). __________________________ WHAT ILLEGALITY?! | |
