| UNDERSTATEMENT (2) Definition: The practice of making things seem less impressive, important, serious, etc. than they really are. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for the person(s) involved. 2. There existed a full realization or awareness, before an act or action, of the true meaning, significance, relevance, import, etc. of the particular thing being made less impressive, etc. 3. A benefit, gain, advantage, etc. is envisaged from practice. 4. Others are not deliberately misled by acts and actions taken in furtherance of belief. That is, there will be a declaration of the stand or position taken in respect of particular situation, etc. 5. No unplanned loss is suffered as a result of practice, especially by others connected with things made less important, etc. And practice does not break or flout a law or rule. 6. Act or action that lessens the importance, etc. of a thing is timely carried out to help achieve goal(s). (Connect to #5.) 7. A question, query, etc., if any, will not bring about a reversal, cancellation, volte-face, etc. of an earlier adopted position. 8. Practitioner does not end up deluding himself or herself that thing is truly not as impressive, important, etc. as portrayed, especially if campaign lasts for a long period of time. 9.
