| UNDERDEVELOPMENT Definition: (of a country, society, etc.) The state of having few industries and a low standard of living. ______________________________________________________________________ * Any, few, some or all of the six elements would be in. 1. Country, society, etc. has no natural resources. Or there is no proper harnessing of her/its natural resources, if any. 2. No real investment in the productive or progressive sectors of the economy or existence, or in sectors that can influence or impact on this; including investment in capacity building or the development of human resources. 3. No proper management of scarce national or group assets/resources to increase GDP, GNP, improve Balance sheet position, Profit and Loss account balance, etc., etc. And no commensurate return on investment, if any, or adequate maintenance of capital assets/holdings, etc. 4. Capitalization, foreign direct investment, accessibility to adequate funding, equity participation, viability of budgets and/or plans, etc., etc. is non-existent or at the lowest level. 5. Potentials or prospects of growth cannot be seen, such that an alliance, cooperation, partnership, etc., with 'poor' country or society can be planned or hoped for. 6.
