| TURNCOAT Definition: (disapproving) A person who leaves one political party, religious group, etc. to join one that has very different views. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements would be in. 1. Has a purpose for jumping ship. 2. Considers it a necessity to move on to 'better grounds'. 3. Departs at the right time, to help achieve his or her goal(s). 4. Will condemn former party, group, etc. on being accepted in new. 5. Will be ingratiating on becoming a member of new association, by studying, propagating, practicing, etc. the views of newly adopted manifesto, faith, etc. And socializing fully in new environment. 6. Will never return to old party, etc. or do a second volte-face, no matter what happens or is discovered or experienced in his or her new 'home' (= party, denomination, etc.), even though person may move on to a third party, religious group, etc. 7.
