| TRANSIT CAMP Definition: A camp that provides temporary accomodation for refugees. ______________________________________________________________________ * All ten elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary. 2. Established with official authority. 3. Manned by appropriately qualified and trained officials, in adequate numbers. That is, its management will be considered as okay. 4. Camp has basic infrastructures and facilities. That is, the minimum logistics are available in temporary habitation. In other words, place is considerably well-organized; habitable or livable. 5. Safe, secured and protected from unauthorized entry. 6. Not overcrowded. That is, enough number of rooms, toileting facilities, recreational areas, etc. will be available for refugees. 7. Neat, clean, tidy and hygienic, within and surrounding place. 8. Refugees in camp, especially the vulnerable ones - women and children, the old and infirm - will not be taken advantage of, as a result of the nature of the temporariness of living quarters. 9. Camp remains for as long as refugees are present, before a solution is found to the cause of the hardship. 10. Serves purpose(s), as exactly hoped for. _________________________________________ ...
