| TRADE SURPLUS Definition: A situation in which the value of a country's exports is greater than the value of its imports. ______________________________________________________________________ * All five elements should be in. 1. Desired and worked purposefully for by country. 2. Reflects on the living standards of the citizenry. That is, savings, spending patterns, investments, etc. of the population will be encouraging and positive and cost of living in country will not be excessively high in the situation. 3. Situation is not brought about by artificial measures or irregularities, or by government illegal intervention or policies. That is, imports are not deliberately made to be difficult or expensive or delayed. 4. Situation lasts or is sustained for as long as desired, within legally acceptable limits. 5.
