Definition: If you take time out from a job or activity, you have a break from it and do something different instead.

1. Purposeful and necessary to have a break from routine.

2. Time would be happily and voluntarily taken, not the result of a law, rule or regulation, duty, frustration, etc.

3. Different thing engaged in, in the interim period, will be one of own preference or choosing.

4. The job or activity that will be temporarily abandoned will not be forgotten, especially on being reengaged or on resumption.

5. What will be engaged in during break, legal or illegal, will be properly done, completed or not. And benefit(s) will accrue therefrom.

6. Lasts for period desired, particularly if a return will be made to previous job or to former vocation.

7. Period serves purpose(s), whatever this/these is/are.
