| THRIFT (1) Definition: (approving) The habit of saving money and spending it carefully so that none is wasted. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for 'scrounger'. 2. (Reserved.) (The footing or foundation of habit is solid. That is, the money being saved and spent wisely would have been genuinely earned - not stolen or embezzled funds!) 3. Where money is saved is considered as 'impregnable'. That is, savings institution or place is guaranteed to be strong and secured. And loose change will not be left openly or carelessly, even when in a familiar environment. 4. Excellent bargains are got each time purchases are made - only best buys, no rip-offs! That is, there will be no experience of a buyer's remorse after a purchase or shopping session. 5. A sum of money, no matter how little, will not be given away to someone else, for free. That is, every expenditure will be strictly justified on the ground of providing a value in exchange or bringing some worth in return. In other words, no change will be left uncollected, no unauthorized tips will be given, etc., etc. 6. No risk will be taken to invest money in 'high-yielding' investments - no deposit account, government securities or bonds, treasury bills, etc., etc. 7. No illegality is committed in the course of trying to avoid waste. That is, no threat to freedom or risk of an unplanned loss will arise from 'save and care'. In other words, all bills, levies, taxes, etc. legally due to be settled will be timely and fully paid by 'miser'. 8. Habit serves purpose(s).
