Team (sports) captain
TEAM (SPORTS) CAPTAIN

Definition: (informal) The member who acts as the head of a team of sportsmen and/or women (athletes, rowers, footballers, etc).

1. Active participant, every time, in the sport or event.

2. Leads the 'line' (not a 'boss'!) - purposeful and necessary.

3. Has a 'strong point' in the particular sport or event.

4. Acknowledges his/her weak spot(s) (and there must be these sorts!) .

5. Outstanding team player. (To emphasize.)

6. Elected, appointed or chosen by team mates (even if it’s a two-man team), not imposed on the members by 'interests' outside it.

7. Has an impressive (CAN DO) attitude and mentality.

8. Has excellent leadership qualities on and off the pitch (connect to #2).

9. Contract, if any, is not about to run out or expire or soon-to-be terminated, if it is possible to know this.

1. Will gladly play the role of vice captain, whenever necessary (connect to #5).

2. Will be the official spokesperson for the players, speaking truthfully and honestly every time.

3. Present at work-warm up(s), workout(s), rehearsal(s) etc. (unless officially permitted to be absent).

4. Prays and leads team in prayer during every prayer session, where applicable (believing in the words he/she utters).
