| TACKLE (1) Definitions: i. An act of trying to take the ball from an opponent in football (soccer), etc.; an act of knocking an opponent to the ground in rugby or American football. ii. (Football, soccer, rugby, etc.) To intercept, seize, obstruct, pull down (an opponent with the ball). ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for tackler. 2. Real opponent (of the opposing team !). 3. At the right time, i.e. within the legal playing time, that will help to achieve the purpose(s). 4. At the right place, i.e. within the playing surface(s), field or ground. 5. Not adjudged as an infringement by official(s) or umpire; strong, but fair. 6.
