Table manners
TABLE MANNERS

Definition: (informal) The behaviour that is considered appropriate while having a meal at a table, especially with other diners.

a. No unnecessary talk - no phone conversation, discussion on, or condemnation of food/meal, no cursing, etc., etc.

b. No coughing or yawning without the mouth being covered (and asking to be excused after!).

c. No throwing of cutlery, napkins, etc. across or around.

d. No 'drumming' on seat(s), table, plate(s), etc. with the finger(s) or cutlery.

e. No singing or humming or tapping or whistling or repeated nodding of the head to a ..... (Connect to 'd').

f. No blowing/cleaning/picking of nose or nostril(s), even when it's runny!

g. No hearty laughter (laughing) or 'bleeding' tears (crying).

h. No cleaning of the fingernails, especially when eating with the hand(s).

i. No unnecessarily prolonged scratching of parts of the body such as the groin, armpit(s), head (hair), etc. (connect to 'f').

j. No farting - silently or not!

k. No footsie - communicating with the toes, leg(s) or feet under the table.

l. No physical touch or contact, that is, no kissing, pecks, handshake(s), high five(s), etc.

o. No dressing or making up!

p. No gargle(s) or gargling.

q. No clapping or waving.

r. No spitting or bringing up sputum.
