| SWING VOTE Definition: (mainly American) In a situation when people are about to vote, the swing vote is used to talk about the vote of a person or group which is difficult to predict and which will be important in deciding the result. ______________________________________________________________________ * Talk will be right, only if all four elements are in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for 'undecided voter' to cast ballot; in fact, compulsory to vote. That is, the person cannot abstain. 2. Unpredictability has a sure or solid basis. That is, not possible to guess what voter will say with his or her 'voice'. 3. 'Swing' will end up in the direction - 'YEA' or 'NAY' - desired by the supporters. That is, there will be no disappointment, for those expecting a particular outcome, from who acts as a 'decider'. 4. Vote serves purpose(s).
