| SUBSIDENCE Definition: The process by which an area of land sinks to a lower level than normal, or by which a building sinks into the ground. ______________________________________________________________________ * All five elements should be in. 1. Process was predicted, forecast or foreseen, or planned. That is, process can be explained and/or is understandable. 2. Start of process is witnessed, whether prepared for or not. 3. Speed or rate of change in level is as expected or programmed. 4. No serious disequilibrium occurs in the environment or ecosystem as a direct fallout of sinking ground or structure. 5.
