| STREAM-OF-CONSCIOUSNESS Definitions: i. (formal) If you describe what someone writes or says as a stream-of-consciousness, you mean that it expresses their thoughts as they occur, rather than in a structured way. ii. The expression of thoughts and feelings in writing, exactly as they pass through you mind, without the usual structure they have in formal writing. iii. A continuous flow of ideas, thoughts and feelings, as they are experienced by a person; a style of writing that expresses this without using the usual methods of description and conversation. iv. (psychology) Individual conscious experience regarded as continuously moving forward in time and in an uneven flow.
