| STOP AND SEARCH Definition: (informal) A quasi-military operation conducted by security operatives (and allied officials) of a conveyance and contrivance on, pedestrians or users of, a road, of a general nature or to discover specific person(s) or thing(s). ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary (to emphasize). 2. Legal or lawful. But no announcement, notice or pre-warning before the STOP. 3. No discrimination (of vehicles and persons) in the modus operandi of the exercise. 4. No cover-up(s) during and after searches (even if the operative(s) is/are related to the person(s) being stopped and searched). 5. Conducted by experienced, appropriately educated and well-trained person(s) or animals, where applicable-looking in the 'right' or 'hidden' places with fully functional bodily faculties etc. 6.
