| STILLBIRTH Definition: A birth in which the baby is born dead. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements should be in. 1. Situation is certainly not ordinarily desired or wished for. And therefore never expected or prepared for. 2. Reason(s) or cause(s) is/are known or can be found out. And this/these will not be traceable to negligence of mother, or of the medical professionals during the antenatal, or to an abortion. 3. Considered best that baby is dead. That is, if baby were to be born alive, it would have lived a difficult 'impossible' life, as a result of the medical challenges that it would have faced, all of which are confirmed as incurable. 4. The mother or surrogate, during pregnancy, was or will be informed before birth that baby had died in the womb. 5. 'Labour' will be painless. And no damage will be done to birth canal as a result of exit of dead baby. That is, no apparent physiological loss will be suffered by the woman concerned. 6. Birth will not stop woman from having and enjoying sex, getting pregnant, again, in the future, and having a safe and healthy delivery. 7. The dead baby is disposed humanely, promptly and hygienically or is buried decently.
