| STENOGRAPHER Definition: (especially North American English) A person whose job is to write down what somebody else says using a quick system of signs or abbreviations. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Has a purpose and considers task a necessity. 2. Sense of hearing is excellent. 3. Understands the language(s) spoken. And will have no problem with the speaker's intonation, pronunciation, etc. 4. Writes fast, especially if speaker is a 'fast talker'. 5. Writing will be simple, in his or her opinion. 6. Will know the meaning, implication, etc., afterwards, of all the signs or abbreviations used. 7. Will be able translate (on interpret) 'jottings' correctly. 8.
