| SPOUSAL ABUSE Definition: (informal) Unfair, cruel or violent treatment of a husband or wife by the wife or husband. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements would be in. 1. The spouses are legally married. ______________________________ WEDDED BY TRADITION, IN A REGISTRY, BY AN OATH, IN A CEREMONY. 2. The abused partner never raises a finger (or voice) in retaliation (or 'reply'). ______________________________ FOR THE SAKE OF LOVE OR IN FULFILMENT OF A ‘PROMISE’. 3. Deserved by the abused, in the opinion of abuser: defensible. ______________________________ 'VERY GOOD FOR HIM/HER'. 4. 'Minimal', that is, abuse does not end in a fatality or serious injury. ______________________________ BE IT NEGLECT OR A KICK OR A SLAP OR... 5. The person that is abused loses some (or all?) self-worth, personal esteem, confidence, etc. ______________________________ OR A VERBAL ABUSE, SOME PUT–DOWN. 6. 'Enjoyed' (?) by the abused party (though a repeat is never deliberately desired). ______________________________ JUST ‘ENOUGH’, WITH OR WITHOUT VISIBLE INJURIES. 7. 'The last', as promised by the abuser, after the bad treatment. ______________________________ NO MORE. ('I SWEAR. SORRY'.) 8. Regretted later, whatever the outcome. That is, recollection is never pleasant for abuser (connect to #7). ___________________________________ IN THE OPEN OR IN A CLOSET. 9. Never planned to be reported to the police or law enforcement agent(s). That is, abuse is not openly known to the public, a relation, third party, etc. __________________________________ * HONESTLY SERVES NO PURPOSE. | |
