| SPIRIT OF THE TIMES Definition: The general mood or quality of a particular period of history, as shown by the ideas, beliefs, etc. common at the time. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements would be in. 1. A recognition and/or an awareness, if not a participation and/or an involvement, in group activities, is possessed by all the people at the time. 2. Mood or quality during period had challenges and opportunities, whether these are overcome or not taken. 3. Learning and discovery were present during period, even if no research, investigation, research and development, etc. took place. 4. Sustained and retained while mood or quality lasted. That is, spirit is not cut short by unnatural actions or man-made events or activities. 5. Mood and quality were diverse. That is, situation that existed contained 'the good, the bad and the ugly'. In other words, there were positives (= benefits) and negatives (= dangers) in the ideas, beliefs, etc. of the period. 6. Time, resources, etc. were invested in the things - ideas, beliefs, etc., prevalent at the time, whatever outcomes or end results were obtained. 7.
