Definition: (idiomatic - be in a snit) (North American English) To be bad-tempered and refuse to speak to anybody for a time because you are angry about something.

2. Cause(s) of temper and reason(s) for silence is/are known.

3. Nothing can be done in the situation, about what has caused moodiness or taciturnity, to alter mood for good.

4. An appeal, pleading, etc. to have a change of mood/heart/mind will be rebuffed. And/or an attempt to plead could even make matters worse.

5. Refusal does not offend a rule, etc. That is, silence will not get you into trouble with the law.

6. No loss will be suffered as a direct result of situation. That is, temper or anger will not boil over! And a gain might be obtainable from keeping quiet.

7. Condition lasts for a period of time considered as reasonable, especially by those who have a contact, relationship, etc. with you.

8. No forgetfulness arises after end of period of bad temper. That is, 'cool' will not be lost, 'forever', as a result of emotion and feeling. In other words, on return to normalcy, what ought to be done or said, will be appropriately dealt with.
