Definition: (idiomatic - the sharp end (of something)) (British English, informal) The place or position of greatest difficulty or responsibility.

1. An awareness exists, before occupation of place or commencement of task, about the extent of difficulty or the level of onus or duty placed on or expected from the person or thing, at particular point in time.

2. There will be no impediment to surviving or fulfilling role in situation. That is, the wherewithal will be possessed to carry on. And there will be no need for an illegality or immorality to be committed while in the situation.

3. Effort or labour, hard work or input, etc. will be maximal to have a chance of succeeding in task. That is, there will be no possibility of, or reliance on, chance or good luck to help accomplish goal(s).

4. The personality or individuality of who or what is in place or position will be unaltered or unaffected by what will be done or not done, or will not change as a direct fallout or consequence of great hardship or duty.

5. Gain or profit, benefit or advantage, etc. that will be secured, in the end, will make stay in position or fulfilment of task worthwhile.
