Severance pay
SEVERANCE PAY

Definition: Compensation paid by a firm to an employee who leaves because the job he or she was appointed to do no longer exists.

2. Provided for in the terms and conditions of service.

3. The beneficiary's action or inaction, incompetence or unlawful activities, etc. was not responsible for there being no job to do.

4. Task (= job) previously being done was not mechanized.

5. The sum will be thought to be adequate by the recipient.

6. No possibility or likelihood of a recall, re-engagement, etc. or of being on contract, in the same organization, for paid-off employee.

7. Amount will be paid fully and also received timely.

8. Serves purpose(s), especially if well managed by the recipient.
