| SENSE OF PATHOS Definition: A person who has a sense of pathos feels sadness and pity for another human being who is believed to be having some bad experience, under an undesirable circumstance, in a bad situation, etc. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements would be in. 1. Believes it justifiable and worthwhile, as there would be a background to developing the feeling. 2. A connection or relationship exists between the human being feeling gloomy and the person being pitied. 3. Nothing could have been done to prevent factors responsible for situation. Or efforts, if any, failed. 4. Feelings develop immediately on being aware of the start or discovering cause of the negative occurrence. 5. Surprise or shock will be the prevailing emotion before feeling becomes real. That is, expectation from who is pitied wasn't met. 6. Feeling will usually arise out of an admiration or liking or love, with the hope and prayers (?) that 'victim' will secure a relief. 7. Feeling will be kept low-keyed and within the control of who feels pity. That is, nothing practical is done to express feeling. 8. Lasts as briefly as possible.
