Definition: (British English) Something you say or do in order to protect yourself when you are being attacked, criticized, etc.

2. Speech or action is not unauthorized or illegal !

3. Attack, criticism, etc. is potent and virulent. That is, what you face will have a damaging and/or negative, or even fatal effect on you, if not repelled or responded to. (To emphasize.)
