Definition: A figure made to look like a person, that is dressed in old clothes, and put in a field to frighten birds away.

1. Purposeful and necessary - crops, etc. are growing in field.

2. Placed at the most conspicuous/central spot. (Connect to #3.)

3. (Reserved.) (The figures are in adequate numbers to cover field.)

4. Dress will be loose. That is, a slight movement of the wind will have an effect on how figure appears. (To emphasize.)

5. Old clothes are worse than cast-offs and as such they (= clothing items) cannot be worn by any normal person.

6. Figure is put in an upright position - not made to be slanting, crouching or lying by the action of the forces of nature.

7. Stays in field for period desired (connect to #6).

8. Serves purpose(s) - keeps the birds away !
