| ROUGH DIAMOND (1) Definition: (British English) A person who has many good qualities even though they do not seem to be very polite, educated, etc. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements would be in. 1. Person is a people person, though never deliberately courted by another or by the others. 2. Genuine efforts have not been made by person to be more polite or to be better educated (to emphasize) (connect to #1). 3. Person does not really appreciate the value of more politeness or really good education (connect to #2). 4. Shortcomings are pointed out by others - nicely and politely - to this person, through actions/inaction, talk, comments, etc. 5. Diamond does not or cannot get 'polished', in spite of observations brought to his or her notice. (And all the other good qualities do not become weakened as a result of corrections.) (Connect to #2 & #4.) 6. Lack of good manners or better education does not result in person committing an illegality or a criminal act (to emphasize). 7. Person cannot attain his or her full potentials. That is, there is a loss or there are losses in the situation, whether person is aware of this/these or not. 8. (Reserved.
